Lets get rolling! One of the most crucial parts of skating is your wheels. Skate wheels come in many different styles, sizes, colors, and hardness. Choosing the right wheel for you is important to have the best skating experience around. Wheels tend to range from 50mm to 60mm, with a few exceptions. Typically the 53mm to the 56mm tend to be the most common size. Another key factor in choosing the right wheel for you is hardness, you will either see this as a number with an “a” or as the word “durometer”. For choosing the right hardness you need to think about the surface you will skate most often. Softer wheels ranging from 78a to 94a tend to be better four rougher terrain, like asphalt and sidewalks with cracks. Harder wheels ranging from 99a to 101a are a lot nicer on smooth surfaces like those found at most skateparks. Another big factor of soft or hard wheels is sliding. Softer wheels tend not to slide that well and can crack and warp over time, harder wheels excel in this field.
